Obituary for Allan G. Decker

EDGERTON--- Allan G. Decker, age 82, of Edgerton, died on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, Madison. He was born in Janesville on August 12, 1936, the son of Stewart T. and Mary A. (Havens) Decker. Allan was a 1954 graduate of Edgerton High School. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army from August 3, 1959 until August 2, 1961. Allan married Carol J. Geske, the love of his life, on July 5, 1958 at St. John Lutheran Church, Edgerton. He worked for nearly 30 years at APV/Crepaco in Lake Mills as a welder/fabricator. He was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Edgerton for 35 years, and also volunteered at the Veterans Hospital in Madison. Allan was a member of the American Legion Post 30, and the 40/8 (Forty and Eight) and served as Legion Commander numerous times. He was a lifetime member of the Edgerton Conservation Club.

Allan is survived by 2 daughters; Pam (Bob) Bartell of Appleton and Denise (Mike) Halvensleben of Evansville; 5 grandchildren: Ryan (Kandace) Bartell, Tiffany Bartell, David (Courtney) Halvensleben, Jessica (fiancé, Mallary) Halvensleben and Joshua (Megan) Halvensleben; 5 great-grandchildren: Beau, Landon, Ethan, Kayley and Carter; sister-in-law, Nancy Nordmeyer; brother-in-law, Dean Myklejord; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol on May 8, 2009; and 3 siblings: Noreen Decker, James Decker and Kenneth Decker.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 23, 2019, at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME, 315 Lord St. (Hwy 51) Edgerton with Rev. Matthew Poock officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fassett Cemetery. Visitation will take place on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the APFEL EHLERT FUNERAL HOME. Memorials may be made in Allan’s name to the Wm. S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, 2500 Overlook Terrace, Madison, WI 53705 or the Edgerton Fire Department.
